First Day of Class

Today was the first day of class for the spring semester.  It was a long morning with two hours of anatomy lecture followed by two hours of neurobiology lecture.  The afternoon lecture was better as it was a clinical case presented to us and the professor talked us through it and asked us questions.  Now, it's back to studying again!

I am also taking a Comparative Anatomy elective and a Reptile Medicine and Surgery elective as well.  It is looking like it will be a challenging semester!

I'm Back

I have arrived back in Illinois today from Connecticut.  I hope to be in Fairbury, Illinois this weekend and then have Monday off of school for MLK Jr. day.  School starts up on Tuesday.  It's hard to believe that Christmas break is already over!

Christmas

The holiday rush is over and now I am relaxing a bit.  I am planning on leaving for Illinois a week from today.  Anyways, I figured I would post some pictures from the holidays.

On Friday night, the 23rd of December we had our Gerber Christmas. 

Andy ended up with this nice hat from the grab-bag (although he later ended up trading with Lanae)

On Christmas day, a lot of our family got together again.

 Aunt Mary-Ann brought along two bags filled with different edible items wrapped in tinfoil.  We split into two teams and each team member had to go to their bag and select a tinfoiled item, unwrap it and eat it.  Once they were done eating it, they went to their team line and the next teammate went.  First team to eat all their items won!  Some of the wrapped items included grapes, sticky buns, Hershey's kisses, onions and pickled mushrooms among others. It was pretty fun!

Both days were a lot of fun, spending time with family who I don't see near as often anymore!

Final Grades

I received my final grades a few days ago and I am pleased with them.  I actually did better on the final exam than I thought so that was nice.  My final grade for the quarter (we only receive one grade at the end of the quarter) was where I like it so I am glad.  I am enjoying relaxing out in Connecticut and plan to head to Vermont with my family tomorrow to visit my uncle, aunt, and cousin. Hope everyone has (or had) a Merry Christmas!

One Down!

I have finished my first semester of vet school and am still standing so I would say I'm doing alright!  I just finished the written part of the final exam this morning.  Now I head home tonight for a few weeks before I head back and bury myself in the books (and dog carcasses) again! The final was more challenging than the midterm just due to some of it being cumulative but I think I did alright.  Now I am looking forward to spending time with friends and family!
