Exams Are Coming!

Wow, it's the end of February already! This past weekend I was in Leo, IN for an invite and had a great time.  Now, it's been back to the grindstone.  I have just two more days of classes and then Friday is my lab exam.  So, this week I am busy studying all the lab stuff.  It will have virology, bacteriology, mycology, and parasitology on it.  I have heard that it isn't too, too bad so I'm hoping that that will hold true!  Next Thursday and Friday is our final exam for the quarter.  Thursday will be multiple choice and only cover information since the midterm.  Friday will be written and will be cumulative.  So, every bacteria, virus, fungus, parasite, and antibiotic that we have learned this semester is fair game.  Rumor has it that it is a very difficult exam (Friday's part I mean) and that last year, they actually had to curve it because the class did so poorly.  My friend talked to one professor and he even said that it was a difficult exam.  So, that should definitely be fun!  Oh well, once it's over, it's off to Alto, Michigan I go, so I can just look forward to that I spose!

2-22

I am sitting here, just entering my 7th straight hour of class.  I'm about ready to be done!  I have had class since 8AM straight today and it's now a little after 2PM and we're still going!  We are looking at pictures of dogs and cats with fungal infections, always a good time!  This week has flown right by.  I was in Morton last weekend for a wedding, had an awesome time, I really enjoyed it.  This was our last full week of class.  Next week I have class M-Th with my lab final on Friday.  The quarter is wrapping up!  This weekend I plan to be in Leo, IN for an invite so I am looking forward to that.  Last night we had our first actual snow since I've been in Illinois.  All of last winter and this winter so far had all been mostly nothing with a few dustings.  Now we got at least a couple inches with ice to go along with it.  Well, I should maybe pay attention to my lecture, it's just kinda hard when you've been sitting so long! Adios!

Valentines Day Party

Last night was our Valentines Day Party for the Sunday School kids of Champaign church.  We take the kids from the parents so the parents can have a nice romantic night out with no kids.  We had a pretty good showing, had some pizza and played games and hung out with them at church for awhile.  I think everyone enjoyed it.  Here are some photos I took throughout the evening.

This is Trace.  He impressed all of us guys by downing 3 full slices of pizza without a problem!

Playing "Clue."  Laura came up with it and I thought it was kind of neat. For instance, "It was Nathan in the World Relief room with the bobby pin."  Quite creative in my opinion!

Slightly blurry but I'm using it anyways
Sarah's oversized, stuffed banana is always a hit with the kids:

Don't ever mess with Stephen, you just might end up in the same position that Kwan is in!

Now, this afternoon I am off to Tremont to for the night and then will be in Morton tomorrow for a wedding.  I will then stop at my cousins in Eureka for the afternoon/evening before heading back to Champaign tomorrow night. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Valentine's Day

Yup, today is Valentines Day.  And, I did nothing special for it, just like the previous 23 Valentine's days I've lived through.  However, I did have a visitor from Connecticut in Champaign today.  Jason and Diana and Alexis are in Illinois and Jason drove down today to spend some time with me.  I really enjoyed the couple hours we spent together and look forward to seeing all three of them Saturday evening in Tremont.

Midterm Exam Grade

We got our exam grades from yesterday back today and I actually did better than I was expecting which is always a nice surprise.  Oh, and those licorice caramels I made yesterday?  They were a huge hit at school today.  Everyone that tried them loved them.  So, that was nice too.  Three more days and the weekend, one in which I can actually enjoy myself unlike last weekend, will be here!

Midterm

After a long weekend of many, many hours of studying, my midterm exam is over.  I am ever so glad too.  Most of the questions were alright however we have one professor who asks some of the most ridiculous questions.  But, it's behind me so now I can move on and go back to my regular studying routine until the final.  I went out to lunch with my roommate and while we were out to lunch, he got a call from Loren, our other roommate from last year who lives in Minnesota now.  He was in Champaign and wanted to stop by and say hi.  It sure was nice to see him!  Also, this afternoon, I put my amazingly refined culinary skills to work and made 90 licorice caramels.  They actually turned out pretty well if I don't say so myself!  But, 90 is a lot, so I will definitely be needing some help eating them all! Well, while today has been nice and relaxing after the exam, tomorrow its back to learning, learning, learning! Yay! Adios!

2-7

This week has sure gone by fast.  I had my last day of classes today and tomorrow I have a reading day because Monday is our midterm exam.  It will be 124 multiple choice questions for a total of 300 points.  100 points will be parasitology, 80 points will be virology and 120 points will be bacteriology, I think its gonna be a challenging exam for sure!  So, starting tonight the real studying happens.  I will study tonight, all day tomorrow, most of the day Saturday and all Sunday afternoon and evening after church. Saturday night is parent and church appreciation so I won't be studying Saturday night but it just might give me a needed break.  My grandparents are coming from Tremont for it and then staying overnight and going to Champaign church on Sunday.  Once Monday morning is over, my stress level will drop considerably and I will be able to relax and return to my normal studying routine for a couple weeks until our final exam on March 7th and 8th.

2-3

Hello! It's been not quite a week since I've last updated my blog and pretty much nothing exciting has happened since then!  I have been extremely busy with school, it is turning out to be the most challenging quarter so far in my opinion.  I still try to take a break on Wed. nights to go to church and every once in awhile get away on a Thursday night to get together with the young group here at the University of Illinois.  My midterm exam is a week from tomorrow, should be between 100-150 multiple choice questions covering virology, bacteriology and parasitology.  Of course, we have parent appreciation dinner next Sat evening so that will take me away from my studies for part of Sat which isn't ideal but not everything can go my way all the time either! So, I have a week full of studying, studying, and studying as I attempt to prepare for my midterm exam!  Oops, I think my bed just called my name, I better go to it ;) Adios!
